Policy
How Mosey accesses, uses and protects step and activity information from Apple Health and Android Health Connect — and how you stay in control.
The short version
Mosey uses step and activity information only to provide walking, progress, Acorn and reward features you choose to use. We do not use Apple Health or Health Connect data for advertising, ad targeting, offerwall targeting or sale to data brokers.

Who this policy applies to
This Health Data Policy applies to the Mosey mobile application operated by Moseyaround Limited (“Mosey”, “we”, “us” or “our”). It supplements our main Privacy Policy and explains our handling of health and fitness information in more detail.

Health and activity information Mosey uses
Mosey may request permission to read step-count and related activity information that is necessary for its walking and rewards features. Depending on your device, this information may come from Apple Health/HealthKit or Android Health Connect.
We request only health or fitness permissions needed for the user-facing feature being provided. Mosey is not intended to collect medical records, diagnoses, treatment information or clinical records through these integrations.

Why we use step information
We use authorised step and activity information to display walking progress, determine step milestones, calculate eligible Acorns and same-day Step Multiplier progress, support streaks and challenges, and protect the integrity of the rewards programme.
We do not repurpose Apple Health or Health Connect information for unrelated advertising or marketing profiling.

Your permission and explicit consent
Before Mosey accesses health or activity information, the app provides a separate health-data consent step and the relevant operating-system permission request. Where UK data-protection law treats the information as special-category health data, Mosey identifies an appropriate Article 6 lawful basis and relies on explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) UK GDPR for that special-category processing.
Your health-data consent is separate from accepting Mosey’s general Terms. We keep appropriate evidence of consent, including the applicable consent version and time where required.

You remain in control
You can refuse health permissions and can later withdraw them through Apple Health or Health Connect settings and through any withdrawal controls provided within Mosey. Withdrawing permission stops future access that depends on that permission.
Some walking and step-reward features cannot operate without access to the step information needed to provide them.

Advertising and offerwalls
Mosey does not provide Apple Health or Health Connect information to advertising networks, offerwall providers or similar services for advertising, targeting, profiling or measurement. Health and activity information obtained through those integrations is kept separate from advertising and offerwall targeting.
Mosey may display advertising or third-party offers in the app, including offerwall opportunities supplied by ayeT Studios and GemiAd/GemiWall where enabled and subject to applicable consent requirements. Apple Health or Health Connect data is not used to decide which advertisements or offers you see and is not supplied to these offerwall providers for targeting or profiling.
Kept separate: Health and activity information from Apple Health and Health Connect is not used for advertising or offerwall targeting.

Storage and security
We use technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information handled by Mosey. Data transmitted between the app and our services is protected using appropriate encrypted connections, and access to production information is restricted according to operational need.
Apple Health and Health Connect also provide device-level permission controls. Mosey does not attempt to bypass those controls.

Retention and data minimisation
We seek to minimise the health and activity information processed and retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including providing account and reward history, security and fraud prevention, resolving disputes and meeting legal obligations.
Where a feature can be provided using a derived result rather than retaining unnecessary underlying health information, we aim to minimise the underlying information retained.

Account deletion and health data
You can request deletion of your Mosey account and associated personal information using the method described in our Privacy Policy and in-app controls. Deleting information held by Mosey does not necessarily delete the original information held in Apple Health or Health Connect; those stores are controlled separately through your device.

Accuracy and medical use
Step information can vary between devices, sensors and data sources. Mosey is a rewards and activity application, not a medical device or medical service. Information displayed by Mosey is not medical advice and must not be used for diagnosis, treatment or emergency decisions.

Age and eligibility
The eligibility rules in the Mosey Terms for your region apply to use of the app and its health/activity features.

Your regional privacy rights
Your rights depend on where you live. UK users have the rights described in our UK Privacy Policy, including applicable rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and withdrawal of consent. US users should also read the applicable US Privacy Notice and state-specific consumer-health-data policies in the Mosey Legal Centre, including the Washington Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy where applicable.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Health Data Policy when Mosey’s health integrations, legal obligations or data practices change. Material changes will be communicated where required, and fresh consent will be requested where a new use requires it.

Important
Connecting Apple Health or Health Connect is subject to the permissions you grant on your device. Mosey does not use health or activity information from those services for advertising or offerwall targeting.
